Burley 21 is an old and trusted Burley type that has long been a favourite of many growers. Its history goes back more than 200 years! Plants easily grow 2 m tall and it is a reliable producer of large and heavy leaves. Cultivation succeeds well in a wide range of climates and ripening is in 65-70 days. The leaves produce a strong, full-flavoured tobacco that is often used in a blend for cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco.

Tobacco plants are diligent bloomers, in sun or shade, dry weather or rain!

Sowing method: February-April indoors at 20-25°C or outdoors in May (in a warm, shaded spot). Always pre-sow in a seed tray. Sowing medium: cocopeat with silver sand, sieve the top layer extra finely (kitchen sieve). Spread the seeds over the seedbed, lightly press down, and mist until moist: it is a light germinator! Prick out in time into potting soil to prevent growth stagnation. The plants can be moved outdoors in May, as soon as the weather becomes consistently warmer.
