Cuban Criollo 98 is one of the most valued varieties for Cuban cigars. It originated from a cross between the varieties 'Havana 92' and 'Habana P.R'.
Optimally grown (in the sun with sufficient nutrients and water), it produces 14 to 16 useful leaves per plant. It reaches an average height of 180 cm. The leaves average 50 cm in length and 25 cm in width. The plants are resistant to blue mold, Blackish Paw, and the tobacco mosaic virus, and moderately resistant to environmental necrosis. The tobacco is used as a wrapper and for the cigar's filler.
Tobacco plants are diligent bloomers, in sun or shade, dry weather or rain!
