A free-flowering Climbing Convolvulus with star-shaped sky-blue flowers, blooming from July until the first frost. The plants climb to about 1.5 m high (climbing, creeping, or trailing) and are ideal for fences, trellises, and "hanging baskets". This species also grows well in pots and is suitable for growing in a conservatory or greenhouse.
Annual climbers have the great advantage of long flowering periods and flexible use. The Ipomoea range is steadily expanding into a "something for everyone" assortment. Regarding the species name: I. purpurea is truly annual, I. tricolor has thicker leaves and can be overwintered as a tub plant. They twine or creep in pots or gardens, also beautiful as hanging plants!
