Beautiful saucer-shaped blooms in a striking mix of different red and pink hues. The plant climbs up to 3 meters and produces large, heart-shaped leaves. Give them a sunny spot with some wood chips on the soil, as they like moist ground. Also beautiful in (large) pots. This plant, originally from Mexico, can be overwintered in a greenhouse.
Annual climbers have the great advantage of long flowering and flexible use. The Ipomoea assortment is steadily expanding into a "something for everyone" range. Regarding the species name: I. purpurea is truly annual, I. tricolor has thicker leaves and can be overwintered as a container plant.
