This relative of the jewelweed and the busy Lizzie deserves its own special place in the garden. They love a lot of moisture, which you can immediately tell from their watery stems, and can also tolerate a little less sun. The fast bloom and bright colors (white, pink, lilac and red) bring even the dullest corner to life! The flowers are usually (semi-)double, can grow up to 5 cm in diameter and resemble camellias. Although the plant easily self-seeds (seeds shoot meters away), it is not an invasive species. Height 40-50 cm.
Many (unfortunately ignorant) colleagues mistakenly call this lovely garden plant a "busy Lizzie" (although they grow and bloom very diligently...) and describe it as such. That's what happens when you use seeds purely as a commodity.
