Hibiscus cannabinus

  • Product number: 525440
  • Origin: Tropical Africa
  • Latin: Hibiscus cannabinus

Surprisingly exotic on Dutch soil, this fantastic plant grows 2-3 m tall, then bursts into bloom, and is used in the tropics to make sticks and fibres! You'll be treated daily to large, funnel-shaped flowers in silver-white with a contrasting dark brown heart. After flowering, bell-shaped fruits appear. An easy-to-grow plant that blooms profusely all summer long... and that's a good thing, because each flower only blooms for a few hours! The young shoots are tasty and the flowers are also edible.
