Pigeon forms robust, sturdy, round plants with gracefully ruffled leaves. Many layers form a double rosette. Colour: light pink with a creamy white centre and blue-green edges.
Ornamental cabbage is best enjoyed from late summer to autumn (extending into winter), so don't sow too early. These beautifully coloured cabbages originated in Japan and make a colourful addition to our gardens or pots! Briefly boiled or stir-fried, they add colour to dishes. Their mild flavour has long been appreciated in Asian cuisine! The leaves of this type are double-feathered, creating a very fine leaf structure (like a snowflake!)
