Pigeon forms robust plants, sturdy, round with elegantly ruffled leaves. Many layers form a double rosette. Colour: burgundy red centre and blue-green border.
Ornamental cabbage or decorative cabbage is best appreciated in late summer to autumn (extending into winter), so don't sow too early. These beautifully coloured cabbages originated in Japan and are a colourful addition to our gardens or pots! Briefly boiled or stir-fried, they are a colourful addition to dishes. Their mild flavour has long been appreciated in Asian cuisine! The leaves of this type are double pinnate, creating a very fine leaf structure (like a snowflake!)
