Pigeon forms robust, sturdy, rounded plants with gracefully ruffled leaves. Many layers form a double rosette. Color: deep purple center and purplish-green edges.
Ornamental cabbage or garnish cabbage is best appreciated from late summer to autumn (extending into winter), so don't sow too early. These beautifully colored cabbages originated in Japan and make a colorful addition to our gardens or pots! Briefly cooked or stir-fried, they add color to dishes. Their mild flavor has long been appreciated in Asian cuisine! The leaves of this type are double-feathered, creating a very fine leaf structure (like a snowflake!)
