Plugs - Poplar Fieldcap

  • Product number: 415030
  • Origin: North America, Europe, Asia
  • Latin: Agrocybe aegerita

This native, protected fungus is found almost everywhere in the world and grows on poplar wood, to a lesser extent on willow, elder, elm and mulberry. Cultivation is easy! The mushroom is harvested as long as the brown cap is convex; harvested young, it's at its tastiest! The white stem is up to 2 cm thick and 10-15 cm long. The taste is mild, sweetish and a little spicy-nutty. The smell is pleasant: fruity and spicy, and the mushrooms remain firm even after cooking. Good to use in risottos, salads, ragouts or in an omelette. This fungus has long been available commercially in dried form, but it is increasingly being cultivated fresh in the Netherlands. The Pioppino is widely used medicinally: it is said to work against headaches, dizziness, nausea and fever. Currently, this species is a hype, as it is said to combat infections and tumors. The substances ceramide, methyl-ß-d-glucopyranoside and a-d-glucopyranoside, linoleic acid, and a methyl ester thereof are believed to be involved. The mushrooms are firm and can be stored in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. UPON ARRIVAL OF THE PLUGS, STORE THEM IMMEDIATELY IN THE REFRIGERATOR TO KEEP THEM FRESH!
