ORGANICALLY GROWN.
Yellow-white Jerusalem artichoke that flowers in August/September and ripens early. Harvestable from the second half of October. Height 1.80 - 2 meters. The yield is quite good, and the plant remains nicely compact underground, forming mostly large (and thus few small) tubers, so it's not a rampant spreader. The tubers are fairly round in shape. Topstar is guaranteed to flower every year from July or August.
PLEASE NOTE: PLANT THE TUBERS IMMEDIATELY UPON ARRIVAL. THEY HAVE LIMITED SHELF LIFE ABOVE GROUND!
The Jerusalem artichoke is a very hardy vegetable that is winter-hardy. Plant the tubers at the edge of your vegetable garden. The plant can grow up to 2m tall; use them as a windbreak but also be aware of the shade they cast. They can be pruned back halfway through the growing season for more compact growth and to prevent them from blowing over, though this will slightly reduce the harvest. In late autumn, you can harvest the tasty tubers, which even taste good raw. Planting distance 75 x 30 cm requires 1.5 - 2 kg for 10 m². Tip: place a blanching pot over the plant in spring for tender, blanched first growth! Blanched, boiled, or finely chopped in a fresh spring salad, this vitamin-rich vegetable tastes bitter and yet sweet. Add a pinch of salt during preparation to prevent the somewhat bitter taste.
WE DO OUR BEST TO MAINTAIN THE OPTIMAL QUALITY OF THE JERUSALEM ARTICHOKES. AS THEY ARRIVE AS EARLY AS DECEMBER, A PORTION OF THE TUBERS MAY DETERIORATE FROM MARCH ONWARDS. FIRST, PLACE THE TUBERS (IF NECESSARY) IN WATER, THEN CUT AWAY BAD PARTS AND PLANT THEM.
THE CONTENT OF 1 KG (UPON FILLING) MAY DECREASE OVER TIME (UP TO 50-60%); AFTER SOAKING, THE TUBER WILL REGAIN SOME OF ITS ORIGINAL WEIGHT.
