This ancient Peruvian variety yields a huge harvest for us! Experience one of the many original potatoes, known for thousands of years in the potato's homeland. This variety produces elongated tubers with dark red skin and almost white flesh, sometimes marbled with red. The texture is very floury and the taste earthy and wild with notes of nutmeg... Late blight does not bother this potato: they are resistant.
SPECIAL VARIETIES LIKE THIS ARE SUPPLIED IN A MIXED PLANTING SIZE, THERE MAY BE (VERY) LARGE TUBERS INCLUDED; YOU PLANT THESE WHOLE OR CUT THEM INTO PIECES WITH SPROUTS.
MAIN CROP VARIETY FOR CONNOISSEURS.
A main crop variety means it can be harvested from September. Early planting can advance the harvest by several weeks. Planting time is from mid-April, when the soil is warm enough. Pre-sprouting in light or in a large pot can be done earlier. Do not place them in a spot that is too wet, but in full sun. Main crop varieties can suffer from the dreaded potato blight (Phytophthora infestans). Some preventive measures are: spacious planting, fertilizing with patentkali, do not spray water over the plant, and possibly organic spraying with sulfur or silinal. The average planting distance is 70x40 cm; we recommend maintaining 80x40 cm to prevent diseases.
