This offspring of the Solanum phureja (a different species than the common potato) is primarily highly resistant to Phytophthora. It's truly a potato to be consumed quickly, as that's when they are at their best: fairly firm, crisp, fresh, in short, uniquely flavored! Try to cultivate them evenly, never let them dry out, improve heavy soil somewhat. This delicacy deserves a little extra attention... The oval-round tubers are light brown, sometimes with a red tip and light cream flesh. Chefs honor this type with the designation "ancient potato," as they contain an increased level of natural carotenoids.
MAIN CROP VARIETY FOR GOURMETS.
A main crop variety means it can be harvested from September onwards. Harvesting a few weeks earlier is possible by planting sooner. The planting time is from mid-April, when the soil is sufficiently warm. Pre-sprouting in light or in a large pot can be done earlier. Do not plant them in too wet a spot, but ensure they get plenty of sun. Main crop varieties can suffer from the dreaded potato blight (Phytophthora infestans). Some preventive measures include: spacious planting, fertilizing with patentkali, not spraying water over the plant, and possibly organic spraying with sulfur or silinal. The average planting distance is 70x40 cm, we recommend maintaining 80x40 cm to prevent diseases.
