(±2024) Parents Vitabella x Lady Cristl
This versatile and disease-resistant potato is ready for harvest mid-early and can be stored remarkably well. The beautiful, smooth tubers have yellow flesh with a firm texture and an aromatic taste experience. You can expect a relatively large harvest; the potatoes are delicious on your plate and also suitable for baking or frying. Riva is not very susceptible to potato blight (Phytophthora) in the tuber.
MID-EARLY VARIETY FOR GOURMETS.
A mid-early variety means it can be harvested from August. You can accelerate this by a few weeks by planting earlier. Planting time is from mid-April, when the soil is warm enough. Pre-sprouting in light or in a large pot can be done earlier. Do not place them in too wet a spot, but ensure they get plenty of sun. Mid-early varieties can suffer from the dreaded potato blight (Phytophthora infestans). Some preventive measures include: planting with ample space, fertilizing with patentkali, not spraying water over the plant, and possibly organic spraying with sulfur or silinal. The average planting distance is 70x40 cm; we recommend 80x40 cm to prevent diseases.
