ORGANICALLY GROWN POTATOES!
Parents: Orchestra x DOB1997-507-015, Breeder Meijer Potato (Dutch company)
We chose Acoustic as the successor to Levante and Ditta, due to its even higher disease resistance! Like Ditta, this one can be harvested mid-season, the texture is (when harvested early) fairly firm, and when harvested "ripe" it's slightly floury, ideal as a table potato or for making good fries. As mentioned: the resistance to Phytophthora in the foliage is very high. The yield is also very high, so get the crates ready... This variety grows from Southern to Northern Europe in both sandy and clay soils.
MAIN CROP ORGANIC VARIETY.
Because the potato plant stores many absorbed substances in its tubers, it is important for the principled organic grower to have "clean" organic starting material. A main crop variety means it can be harvested from September. Early planting can advance the harvest by several weeks. Planting time is from mid-April, when the soil is warm enough. Pre-sprouting in light or in a large pot can be done earlier. Do not plant them in too wet a spot, but in good sun. Main crop varieties can suffer from the dreaded potato blight (Phytophthora infestans). Some preventive measures include: planting widely, fertilizing with patentkali, not spraying water over the plant, and possibly organic spraying with sulfur or silinal. The average planting distance is 70x40 cm, we recommend maintaining 80x40 cm to prevent diseases.
