Potatoes 'Nicola'

(1973) Parents: Clivia x Coderas. Firm when cooked, ideal for salads. Good flavour for those who don't like a floury texture. Very good yield. For clay and sand. Resistant to potato cyst nematode A. Not very susceptible to scab and blight in the tuber. Size 28/35 contains ± 100 tubers per 2.5 kg, they produce 7 stems per 2 tubers and can be planted in 20 m². Mid-early.

MAIN CROP VARIETY.
A main crop variety means it can be harvested from September. Harvesting a few weeks earlier is possible by planting earlier. The planting time is from mid-April, when the soil is warm enough. Pre-sprouting in the light or in a large pot can be done earlier. Do not plant in too wet a spot, but in full sun. Main crop varieties can suffer from the feared potato blight (Phytophthora infestans). Some preventative measures are: wide planting, fertilizing with patentkali, do not spray water over the plant and, if necessary, spray biologically with sulfur or silinal. The average planting distance is 70x40 cm, we recommend 80x40 cm to prevent diseases.
