ORGANICALLY GROWN POTATOES. (2011) An ideal storage potato, yet early to harvest, furthermore: flavourful and firm-cooking. The oval, fairly smooth tubers are also suitable for baking and frying. Due to its high resistance to potato blight (Phytophthora infestans), this variety is very suitable for organic cultivation.
EARLY ORGANIC VARIETY. Because the potato plant stores many absorbed substances in its tubers, it is important for the principled organic grower to have "clean" organic starting material. An early variety primarily means that it grows quickly and is therefore early to harvest. The planting time is actually the same as for later varieties (April). However, to achieve an extra early harvest, these varieties are often planted earlier (mid-March with foil protection or even from January under glass). Early varieties are less susceptible to the dreaded potato blight (Phytophthora infestans). Although the epidemic is occurring earlier and earlier: plant sparsely and fertilize with potash. Pre-sprouting in the light or in a large pot can be done earlier. Do not place them in a too wet spot, but in full sun. The average planting distance is 70x40 cm; we recommend 80x40 cm to prevent diseases.
