(2010) Parents: Carrera x Agria cross. (grower: P. Tigchelaar) This very early potato is comparable to the Frieslander, but can be harvested even earlier. As a result, potato blight hardly affects this primeur variety. This easy-to-cook (fairly firm) potato is very finely crumbly on the plate and therefore versatile, also for baking, frying, and salads.
EARLY VARIETY.
An early variety primarily means that it grows quickly and can therefore be harvested early. The planting time is approximately the same as for later varieties (April). However, to achieve an extra early harvest, these varieties are often planted earlier (mid-March with foil protection or even from January under glass). Early varieties are less susceptible to the dreaded potato blight (Phytophthora infestans). Although epidemics occur earlier and earlier: plant widely and fertilize with potassium. The average planting distance is 70x40 cm; we recommend 80x40 cm to prevent diseases.
