Fodder vetch 'Ebena' / 'Prontivesa'

  • Product number: 394600
  • Origin: Not applicable / Not known
  • Latin: Vicia sativa

This crop grows best on clay. Very popular with beneficial insects! The butterfly-like flowers are large (2 cm or more) and have a striking two-tone appearance: dark purple keel with a light purple standard. You can sow annual vetch from spring to late summer. This leguminous plant is able to fix nitrogen from the air and store it in its roots. When mowed and tilled, this becomes available to other plants. 1 kilo is for 100 m2.

To avoid depleting your valuable soil, it is wise to occasionally leave the land fallow. During such a period, green manure is ideal: it adds nutrients to the soil through often present nitrogen fixation; it suppresses weed growth, promotes bacterial life, provides humus, and in some cases, acts against harmful nematodes.
