Japanese or Black Oats of this 'Exito' variety is a type of grain specifically used to control root-lesion nematodes (Pratylenchus) and root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne hapla). The crop provides quick ground cover and can produce a large plant mass in a short time. Unlike Tagetes (also a crop that controls Pratylenchus nematodes), Japanese oats are therefore suitable for aftercultivation.
The plants are more susceptible to frost than most other grains, so the crop does not need to be dug under in spring. 1 kg is for 100 m².
