Food from the pond! The leaf and root must be cooked, but then you have something special: the root contains a lot of good starch and the leaf tastes pleasantly salty. Some sources say that the fruits and young shoots can be eaten raw, but be careful! Furthermore, many interesting medicinal applications are known, from both the leaf and the root: internal and external, see a lot of information on the internet (e.g. at “Plants For a Future”), but also be sure to consult an expert! The plants grow in marshy places up to even slightly under water.
