A beautiful perennial with pinnate leaves (with a serrated edge) and pink, but usually reddish-brown inflorescences at 1 m high. The root has good hemostatic properties, especially when dried. The leaves and flowers make an astringent and anti-inflammatory tea, and in homeopathy, it is known to be effective against varicose veins.
