When bruised (and who wouldn't expect that from this plant), a distinct garlic scent is released. The plant's structure somewhat resembles deadnettle: bushy with shiny, kidney-shaped, serrated leaves. The pure white flowers are clustered in small bunches. A medicinal herb from bygone eras, it contains glycosides and essential oils. Delicious in salads, the roots are surprisingly tasty in mustard sauce. The plants are 1 m tall, biennial, and grow in (semi-)shaded places.
