At a height of 40-60 cm, elongated clusters display star-shaped, orange flowers with protruding yellow 'lure' tufts. They bloom for a long time, just above the lance-shaped leaves. Give them a sunny, well-drained spot; deadheading encourages further blooming. It's best to grow them in a large pot so they can be moved indoors to a shed or greenhouse during frost. This fantastic plant originates from South Africa; we purchase the seeds from our grower in Portugal.
This plant is known for its medicinal properties; the sap is used against bee and wasp stings, mosquito bites, horsefly bites, blisters, cold sores, mouth ulcers, cracked lips, fingertips, heels, sunburn, burns, dries out acne, and much more.
