Rare wild plant, grows on sandy and loamy soils and flowers from July-September. The 30 cm tall, sparse flower stems have an umbellate cluster of pink-red flowers with playful yellow stamens at the end. This descendant of the gentian family was formerly widely used in medicine. You'd pay a thousand guilders for your health, wouldn't you? It primarily works on appetite and digestion. Biennial.
