Chicory 'Magdeburg' / 'di Chiavari'

  • Product number: 338400
  • Origin: Europe
  • Latin: Cichorium intybus

From the roots, 'war coffee' was roasted. Chicory is still added to enrich coffee! The root has medicinal properties and the leaves are healthy as a salad. In Zeeland, a lot of chicory root is grown because of its inulin content. Inulin is an ideal fiber product, which is incorporated into fruit drinks due to its beneficial effect on bowel function.
In Italy, root chicory (Radicce) is loved for its fine, bitter taste and is mainly eaten in winter. Delicious baked or in soups, just let it simmer "slow-food" style, for at least half an hour.
