Forest mint

  • Product number: 338090
  • Origin: Europe, Asia
  • Latin: Mentha longifolia, or Mentha sylvestris

Very strong mint, which grows very easily in sun or shade. The flavour is robust due to its high menthol content and the leaves have therefore been used since time immemorial to combat the first signs of a sore throat. A healthy and tasty tea is therefore an obvious choice, but chopped into salads and with fish dishes, mint is also a refreshing flavour enhancer! The plants spread quickly, so cultivation in (large) pots is recommended. The leaves are woolly, just like Moroccan mint, and the flowering is abundant: bees and butterflies also benefit.

All mint varieties grow in sun or shade. In the sun, the most compact growth and the most intense colour, scent and flavour are achieved. Each variety goes through 2 growth stages: in spring there is an upward growth spurt before flowering. Then the horizontally (hard) growing runners emerge, which develop into new plants in another location. Bees and butterflies love mint flowers.
