Indian Sorrel

  • Product number: 329810
  • Origin: Tropical Africa and Southwest Asia
  • Latin: Rumex vesicarius

One of the tastiest and certainly the most beautiful sorrels in the world! (in my humble opinion…) Widely available in the tropics and can be grown here as an annual. The broad, rather thick leaves add a pleasant bitterness to salads, and all sorrel recipes are, of course, applicable to this variety. At a height of 30-60 cm, the beige with pinkish-red (the drier, the redder) inflorescences appear, which mature to beige-brown.

Names:
Latin: Rumex vesicarius
Dutch: Indische Zuring
Also known as: Chooka Bhaji
English: Butter Dock, Bladderdock
