A popular American variety from the second half of the 19th century. More than 15% larger than the Chantenay, yet still well-suited for heavy soil due to its blunt shape. This variety used to always be sown together with onions: still a proven remedy against carrot flies and aphids. Its flavour and colour are intense, and the harvest enormous.
