Summer Carrot 'Black Nebula' / 'Deep Purple' F1

  • Product number: 320100
  • Origin: Middle and Far East
  • Latin: Daucus carota

Black carrots may seem like a modern curiosity, but in reality, they have deeper roots (pun intended) than their orange cousins, as they originated in the Middle and Far East long before orange and yellow carrots were cultivated. Their purple colour comes from a high concentration of anthocyanins, which are powerful antioxidants. Many so-called black carrots are dark purple on the outside with an orange core, but this variety ('Black Nebula' or 'Deep Purple') is deep purple throughout, at most a lighter shade of purple.
