This round variety used to be widely cultivated for Parisians in the horticultural area north of Paris (Pontoise). Notable features include its small, rounded leaves, deep green color, and fairly upright growth.
Quite cold-resistant.
The French describe its taste as: "juteuse, tendre et parfumèe" (juicy, tender and fragrant). Very densely sown lamb's lettuce harvested young (when the cotyledon is "stretched") is a delicacy and is called "BROEIVET" (forced lamb's lettuce).
Hardy vegetable with high vitamin C content.
