(French) Jersey Shallots 'Jermor' / 'Vigarmor'

This so-called Jersey Shallot is elongated in shape and is widely praised for its taste. Copper-coloured skin with a crisp, juicy, pink-on-white marbled interior. Its shelf life is very good (8 months), and we supply certified, virus and nematode-free planting material. The name Jersey refers to the supposed origin of the semi-long reddish-brown shallot. However, this is incorrect, as the official ancestors of the shallot come from the Middle East, and further breeding was subsequently carried out with this material in, among other places, Normandy, where the semi-long form was selected.

Shallots belong to the onion family and, like garlic, grow in a cluster of "cloves". The white interior is sometimes red and/or purple marbled. They have a strong, rich flavour. Shallots cause fewer intestinal and respiratory problems than onions and garlic. Many recipes and facts can be found at www.shallot.com
