Sowing method: Garlic can be planted all year round, provided the cloves are in good condition. Most varieties are in stock during autumn and winter. We supply varieties that are successfully grown in the Netherlands. Immediately upon receipt, break open the bulb and plant the cloves in the ground: 2-5 cm deep and 10-20 cm apart. If planted in the autumn, the garlic will emerge in February (or earlier) and can be harvested in June-July. Planted later naturally means a later harvest. Harvesting is not mandatory; garlic is winter-hardy and can also simply remain in the ground. After harvesting, braid the foliage as you sometimes see garlic in stores and dry the bulbs in the sun. Indoors, they can sometimes be stored for up to a year! Cultivation is not difficult, but you can find good tips in our cultivation description in PDF (see bottom of the website). Garlic is said to deter aphids in, for example, roses – worth a try!
