This Czech variety from the city of Bzenec (via the collection of New York grower Dr. Boris Andrst) has a strong, quickly building heat when eaten raw. Baked cloves are round, firm, and full of aroma. A connoisseur's variety that will never be a mass-produced item; the yield is not enormous, but the taste is better!
How delicious can also be beautiful... (or vice versa). This tasty member of the garlic family grows with 1 or more curls in the stem and is (therefore) particularly decorative. Spiral garlic is called hardneck garlic in English and is generally stronger in taste than the so-called softneck varieties.
