Garlic can be planted year-round, provided the cloves are in good condition. Most varieties are in stock in autumn and winter. We supply varieties that are successfully cultivated in the Netherlands. Immediately after receipt, break open the bulb and plant the cloves in the ground: 2-5 cm deep and 10-20 cm apart. When planted in autumn, the garlic will emerge in February (or earlier), and they can be harvested in June-July. Planted later, of course, means a later harvest. Harvesting is not mandatory; garlic is winter-hardy and can also simply remain in the ground. After harvesting, braid the foliage as you sometimes see garlic in stores and dry the bulbs in the sun. Indoors, they can sometimes be stored for up to a year! Cultivation is not difficult, but good tips can be found in our cultivation description in PDF (see bottom of the website). Garlic is said to deter aphids in roses, for example – worth a try!
