Garlic 'Violet de Cadours' / 'Germidour'

Garlic can be planted year-round, provided the cloves are in good condition. Most varieties are in stock during autumn and winter. We supply varieties that are successfully cultivated in the Netherlands. Immediately upon receipt, break open the bulb and plant the cloves in the ground: 2-5 cm deep and 10-20 cm apart. When planted in autumn, the garlic will emerge in February (or earlier), and can be harvested in June-July. Planting later will, of course, result in a later harvest. Harvesting is not obligatory; garlic is winter-hardy and can also remain in the ground. After harvesting, braid the foliage as you sometimes see garlic in stores and dry the bulbs in the sun. They can sometimes be stored for up to a year indoors! Cultivation is not difficult, but good tips can be found in our cultivation description in PDF (see bottom of the website). Garlic is said to deter aphids in, for example, roses – worth a try!
