Garlic 'Therador'

  • Product number: 306136.1
  • Origin: Central Asia
  • Latin: Allium sativum var sativum ssp artichoke

Therador is a fairly large, white garlic. This is a modern improvement of the old variety 'Blanc de la Drôme'. Grows very healthily with a very good yield. Due to its mild taste, this variety has a wide application, both for baking and cooking, but also for raw use in salads. This variety yields 10-15% more, but/and the taste is milder.

Names:
Latin: Allium sativum var sativum ssp artichoke

Also known as: Allium sativum
English: Garlic Softneck

Garlic can be planted year-round, provided the cloves are in good condition. Most varieties are in stock during autumn and winter. We supply varieties that are successfully cultivated in the Netherlands. Immediately upon receipt, break open the bulb and plant the cloves in the ground: 2-5 cm deep and 10-20 cm apart. When planted in autumn, the garlic will emerge by February (or earlier), and can be harvested in June-July. Planted later, of course, means a later harvest. Harvesting is not mandatory; garlic is winter-hardy and can simply remain in the ground. After harvesting, braid the foliage as you sometimes see garlic in stores, and dry the bulbs in the sun. Stored indoors, they can sometimes last up to a year! Cultivation is not difficult, but good tips can be found in our cultivation guide in PDF (see bottom of the website). Garlic is said to deter aphids in roses, for example – worth a try!
