The origin of this variety is unknown. It was found on a Native American reservation; nobody knew how it got there. A prize winner in the American garlic taste competition. The taste is full-bodied but not too strong and not too bland ("sparkling!"). The bulbs have thick skins containing 8 - 12 cloves.

Garlic can be planted year-round, provided the cloves are in good condition. Most varieties are in stock during autumn and winter. We supply varieties that are successfully cultivated in the Netherlands. Immediately after receipt, break open the bulb and plant the cloves in the ground: 2-5 cm deep and 10-20 cm apart. If planted in the autumn, the garlic will emerge in February (or earlier) and can be harvested in June-July. Later planting, of course, means a later harvest. Harvesting is not mandatory; garlic is winter-hardy and can remain in the ground. After harvesting, braid the foliage as you sometimes see garlic in stores and dry the bulbs in the sun. They can be stored indoors for up to a year! Cultivation is not difficult, but you can find good tips in our cultivation description in PDF (see bottom of the website). Garlic is said to deter aphids in, for example, roses – worth a try!
