A beautiful outing, rarely found in Northern Europe. Give them a dry spot or on a slope and the sturdy stalks will reward you with a meal of small onions at the top. A few stubborn lilac flowers protrude far beyond the purple-red bulbs.
These spicy onions are best fried briefly and hot in oil.
