Spring Onions 'Noordhollandse BloedRode'

Sowing method: April-July. For onions, it's important that the soil is finely tilled, not too compact, and sufficiently moist. Spring onions are best sown directly into the open ground, although pre-sowing in soil blocks is also possible. Make a 2 cm deep furrow, and sprinkle a layer of potting soil mixed with your own soil into it. Moisten thoroughly. Then sow the seeds and cover the furrow with the same mixture. Moisten everything again thoroughly with a fine spray and, if necessary, place a strip of old cloth over it. An extra strip of sand is also sometimes used. Keep moist. After 2 weeks, the sand or cloth can be carefully removed.
