A very old Mexican variety, strong and slightly smaller in size than the others. The fruits are yellow and become increasingly purple flushed as they ripen; in a warm summer, they will likely turn completely purple. At least 2 plants are needed for fruit set!
A nice, easy-to-grow crop, originally known in Mexican cuisine. Suitable for all kinds of stir-fries. Cultivation is easy: sow indoors early (March) and plant out in late May in a sheltered spot. The plants grow 1-1.5 m high and appreciate some support; the yield is about 30-40 fruits per plant. There is no risk of disease. Harvesting can be expected from September until the frost sets in. Always grow at least two of these annual plants together for pollination.
