This variety is widespread and popular in Guatemala, named after the city of Coban. The medium-sized and very numerous fruits turn bright purple in sufficient sunlight. The plants grow quite compactly and branch strongly, often hanging so full that they need many stakes to support the stems!
Nice, trouble-free crop, originally known in Mexican cuisine. Suitable for all kinds of stir-fries. Cultivation is easy: sow indoors early (March) and plant out at the end of May in a sheltered spot. The plants grow 1-1.5 m high and like some support; the yield is about 30-40 fruits per plant. There is no risk of disease. The harvest can be expected from September until the frost sets in. You should always grow this annual plant in at least pairs for pollination.
