An expert and enthusiast writes on the internet:
Toma Verde is our favorite Tomatillo variety due to its early ripening and exceptional sweetness: it tastes like a cross between a lemon, a pineapple, and a tomato. This reliable, productive variety also produces larger fruits than many others, up to 5 cm in diameter. Beneath its papery husk, Toma Verde is a deep, bright green. As it ripens, the green color fades to a less intense, somewhat soft green with an almost golden blush. To help manage Toma Verde's enthusiastic, vining, almost climbing growth, surround each plant with a wire cage or stake the plants with many stakes. They develop into bushy, wide plants that are up to 1 meter wide. We love Toma Verde in our Roasted Tomatillo Salsa Verde (you freeze that for use all winter in fajitas and quesadillas du jour). We also love to grill them quartered and brushed with extra virgin olive oil on skewers as a side dish with grilled steak or chicken. (Do not remove the husk until you are ready to use the fruit. Do not be surprised that once the husk is removed, the fruit may be sticky and needs to be rinsed in cold water.)
At least 2 plants are needed for fruit set!

A nice, easy-to-grow crop, originally known in Mexican cuisine. Suitable for all kinds of stir-fries. Cultivation is easy: sow indoors early (March) and plant out in a sheltered spot at the end of May. The plants grow 1-1.5 m high and appreciate some support; the yield is about 30-40 fruits per plant. There is no risk of disease. The harvest can be expected from September until the frost sets in. This annual plant should always be grown in at least pairs for pollination.
