Hardy Collection 10 Healthy Garden Varieties

  • Origin: South America
  • Latin: Lycopersicon

Every year, varieties "emerge" that stand out due to their high resistance to Phytophthora (potato blight), a fungal disease that can sometimes cause the entire tomato harvest to fail. We annually compile a collection of 10 healthy top performers. Some varieties are already part of our assortment, most you will only find in this collection. We try to provide as much variety as possible, so you can confidently grow tomatoes outdoors; cultivation in a greenhouse is of course also fine. Each variety is individually packaged with 10-15 seeds. Organically grown. We regularly adjust the packages, as varieties may not yet have permanent resistance.

Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same spot, for example in a greenhouse? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, and therefore grafting is recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, you use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As an aid, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.

The assortment of tomatoes we offer is enormous and numbers in the hundreds! In an attempt to keep it all manageable for our customers, we create interesting collections based on relevant themes. The varieties we use for this vary and sometimes are not even included in our regular assortment (which we offer separately).

Sowing method: March-May indoors. Transplant into pots when 5 cm high. Provide plenty of light and, from April, harden off outdoors in fine weather. Do not plant out before the end of May. Tomato plants use a lot of water. Side shoots (suckers) must be regularly removed from indeterminate tomatoes; this is not necessary for determinate tomatoes. Planting distance 60-80 cm.
