A beefsteak tomato doesn't always have to be large! This is the smallest one we know. The definition is: more than 4 seed chambers in the fruit; 'Trèfle du Togo' has 5 or more... With a diameter of 3 cm, this West African tomato concentrates a slightly sweet, aromatic flavor. The flesh is soft and juicy; outdoor cultivation is remarkably successful, even though it's a climbing tomato. The red fruits are flattened and range from fairly smooth to very ribbed in shape.
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same place, for example in a greenhouse (or small greenhouse)? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, and thus grafting is recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As a helper, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato gets its name from the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
