The Russian tradition in tomato cultivation is renowned. It makes sense, therefore, that Russian immigrants, upon arriving in the US, brought their most beloved varieties with them. Nik Peplenov brought this variety in 1999, and since then, America has fallen in love with this beefsteak tomato: early-harvesting while retaining the delicious, old-fashioned full tomato flavor. The harvest continues deep into autumn, because Sunset stands for late; in this case, harvesting is even possible after night frosts! The red fruits are large, 10-14 cm in diameter, often tapering to a point, giving them a heart shape.
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same place, for example, in a greenhouse? Then diseases can develop in the soil, to which rootstocks are resistant, and grafting is therefore recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As an aid, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting Clip 1.5 mm.
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato owes its name to the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
