Beautiful, strongly ribbed beefsteak tomato that needs support. This variety dates back to the 17th century and combines an irregular shape with a very good taste. On the internet, you will find the following apt description: "The complex flavor is hard to describe, almost like a fruity merlot wine. You have never tasted such a rich, unworldly, "untomato-ey" tomato. Just fabulous flavor and so showy in the garden.” The fruits are deeply ribbed (sometimes up to 20 ribs!), dark wine-red with brownish-red tops and flat-round to oval-round in shape. The weight varies from 90-200 g with outliers of 1 kg per fruit!
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same spot, for example in a greenhouse? Then soil-borne diseases can develop, against which rootstocks are resistant, and grafting is therefore recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As an aid, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato owes its name to the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
