This old variety from Italy produces large, heart-shaped tomatoes, with low acidity and a pleasant aroma. The color is red with a green collar. Ripening occurs from the inside out, so a lighter fruit (orange or greenish) already has a good flavor, although a fully red ripe fruit is of course the most delicious! The fruit is usually strongly ribbed, but smooth fruits also occur. The shape can also vary: flatter irregular shapes occur, depending on the year and location. Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same spot, for example in a greenhouse (or small greenhouse)? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, and grafting is therefore recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As an aid, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato owes its name to the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
