The climbing plants produce enormously large fruits, weighing up to 1 kg, but usually 350-500 g! The ripe colour of this tomato is deep green, which takes some getting used to... You can determine if the fruit is ripe by gently squeezing it. The first impression when cutting the fruit is: a kiwi! But surprisingly: the taste is truly tomato! A very meaty tomato with few seeds and little juice. In addition to its very good texture, the fruit has a beautifully balanced taste: subtle, sweet and fruity with some spiciness.
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same spot, for example in a greenhouse or cold frame? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, and where grafting is therefore recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As an aid, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato gets its name from the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
