Beef tomato 'Green Copia'

  • Product number: 295424
  • Origin: Central America
  • Latin: Lycopersicon lycopersicum, or also L. esculentum

A spontaneous mutant of the Russian yellow-red striped tomato ‘Copia’. The large fruits (400 grams) have fantastic colors: orange-red with green and yellow stripes. The climbing plants ripen fairly early. The taste is very good, firmer in sunny summers than in rainy summers.

Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same place, for example in a greenhouse? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, and grafting is therefore recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As a tool, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.

The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato owes its name to the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.

Sowing method: March-May indoors. Transplant into pots when 5 cm tall. Place in a very bright location and harden off outdoors from April when the weather is good. Do not plant out before the end of May. Tomato plants use a lot of water. For this taller or (in the greenhouse) climbing type, side shoots (suckers) must be removed regularly. Planting distance 60-80 cm.
